Why is it we have a female basketball league that gets tv air time, but not a women's volleyball league that gets tv air time? I would much rather watch a sport that women excel at, then one that makes them look like ametuer's in comparison to the men's team. I was watching Indoor Volleyball (not beach, I found that boring) and it was actually really interesting. I thought I would tune it to see some pretty girls jumping around (I'm sorry, I'm a guy), but after that wore off I found mysel...

I was born in America. My parents were born in America and my Grandparents were born in America. My great grandparents on my mothers side were scottish. But people label me as white. Because thats my skin color. I find it insulting. People classify me as white, and make assumptions about my personality and morales based from it. From now on I would rather be referred to as Scottish-American to reflect my proud history and background. I am not white, I'm scottish-american. I wonder i...

Up until now I've considered the place I live as one of, at the very least, racial tolerance. I'm not so naive to think that everyone around here would be unbiased, but I haven't seen any signs of out-right hatred towards someone else based on race. No KKK spray painted anywhere, no Nazi swastikas, no neighborhood buzz about hate-mongers living among us, and up until about a week ago no signs stating "For Whites Only." Well my world has been brought into a new light. A person who owns a...

Studies are continually being published in the business section of my local paper that the economy is getting better. But I've yet to see it. But I can't say I'm a big member of the economy, as I don't buy very many items and am currently looking for a job. Everytime an article states, "The economy is getting better!" theres another one the next day, "Oil prices to rise" or "Jobless rate increases." That sort of flip flop doesn't make me feel certain about the economy at all. The las...

I was recently lured into a "job interview." I walked up to the building and about three people greeted me at the door. "Are you hear for (censored business name)?" they asked. "Why, yes I am." I replied. Now my paranoid nature beginning to wonder if this was some sort of trap. Maybe the college cops set up a sting and were going to make me pay that blasted parking fine. But one lady said that she would take me up. Of course, the naive part of me said to myself, "Wow, this is a nice co...

Today while I was on the computer a soap was playing on tv in the background. I watch it for about 2 minutes and I this is what I see. A woman is stuck in a crack in the ground (or something). She must have recently fell down it. Then a guy is leaning on his stomach above the cliff talking to her, and this conversation takes place (as best as I can remember it). Woman (looking up), "I can't believe I found you. You were dead and I found you!" Guy, "But I'm alive, and you did!" Woman, ...

Fear is generally a good thing. It keeps you from doing something stupid or risking more than you have to lose. It tells you that you should really think about the chances of your death are high enough given a situation that you should consider another option. Fear can be ignored and pushed through if you deem it necessary to accomplish a task. Without fear there is no courage, at least thats the relationship most war movies make about it. Fear of someone else dying or being hurt can mot...

I know I'm not alone here, but my grilfriend makes me crazy. In more ways than one. First off, she is a wonderful wonderful caring woman... but whenever she gets down or mad she doesn't say a word. She will put on a happy face, go on about her business, but she lets out tell-tell signs that she hates everyone and everything at this particular moment. So I try to ask her what is going on and she says "Oh, don't worry about it." Am I supposed to forget that she's upset and go about my dail...

I'm new to JoeUser.com, but I'm wonder if there is a bit of celebrity within the community? Does having one of those top10 users respond to posts make us feel good? Having the person with the number one site agree with your topic make a nice little feeling down in the cockles and sub-cockles of your heart? And when they disagree, does it make you sink into a hole? When Dharmagrl responded to one of my posts, it gave me a wow factor. I guess that will pass over time.

I drive down the street and I notice, as does most other people, that nearly 2/5ths of the cars (if not more) are being driven by people with cell phones up to their ears. And when I'm walking in a store, its nearly the same ratio if not more. Once as I was sitting in the lobby of a hotel after a defensive driving course, I noticed we were all sitting around in a relatively close area that was designed for talking. And boy was everyone talking! On their Cell Phones. So I started to wonder...

Its late and I'm catching an episode of Star Trek: Voyager. I don't particularly have any postive or negative feeling towards the show. It has its good moments and bad ones. But I know what I don't like about it; The Captain. She is always such a ... mother figure. I guess thats how they might have intended it. But whenever she has to tell a crew member they've done bad its always, "I'm very disappointed in you...", or "What am I supposed to do with you?" I feel awkward watching it, mo...

The last line of my previous blog made me think, it reads as following: "If you watch the Channel long enough, its like one show blends right into another and you can spend hours just gazing at the pretty colors and beautiful people. Maybe thats what its all about. ... *zombie stare* I pledge allegiance to the MTV..." I think MTV is very skilled at brainwashing. Their sets are brightly colored, everything moves around at a fast pace, wall to wall beautiful people, music with a hard beat i...

So periodically when I sit down for lunch or just need some brain melting TV lounging, I'll turn on MTV. And as I've noticed its pretty much the same repackaged slop over and over. However, there is of course a common theme to it. No, not music if thats what you are thinking. Its usually the look. Young people dressed up like they are ready to rave 24/7. To be honest, I tune into the "Real World" and I am completely and totally shocked to learn they are only 18 or 19. I don't remember ...

I am a 25 year old Global Business degree seeking student who is majoring in Information Systems Management. Or is that the other way around, I'm not sure. I've made mistakes in my College career, and its been extended to about 7 years now. That joke David Spade and Chris Farley have in " Tommy Boy " relates to me. Farley: "Hey Richard, I graduated!" Spade: "And just a shade under a decade, good job." Farley: "Hey, lots of people goto school for 7 years." Spade: "Yeah, they're called doc...
