Up until now I've considered the place I live as one of, at the very least, racial tolerance. I'm not so naive to think that everyone around here would be unbiased, but I haven't seen any signs of out-right hatred towards someone else based on race. No KKK spray painted anywhere, no Nazi swastikas, no neighborhood buzz about hate-mongers living among us, and up until about a week ago no signs stating "For Whites Only." Well my world has been brought into a new light.
A person who owns a house in my neighborhood is selling his home, reasons unknown. The sign planted in his front yard states, "For Whites Only." It disgusts me to the core. Someone who lives around here is so racist that he (I'm assuming its a man, but that may be wrong as well) wouldn't even accept money from a mexican, black, indian, asian, or anybody not white (does that include jews?) for his house. The thought of someone of a different color living in a house he would no longer live in, see, or own makes him so ill that he has the audacity to state "For Whites Only" on his for sale sign.
Its a racist world we live in, and I've come to realize that no neighborhoods are immune to people who will declare their hatred without fear. I think somebody needs to drive up in the middle of the night with a can of spraypaint. Oh, maybe a mess of white superly-open gay guys to tour his wonderful house. I'm torn between wanting him out of the neighborhood and fearful of the type of person he would agree to sell the house too.
